And it's all mine JoAnna. Just vision that brush working a lather from TSD Bamboo & Teak cream. Nirvana no doubt! :happy097
Bryce, I used it this morning, it works great. I might hold on to this one. I will send you a refund. Thanks! . . . . Just playing, it's in the mail, (unused).
on it's way to Virginia. Rodd wanted a lot for it , but I'm sure it'll be worth it, just to hold the brush.
Queenie, Here I am trying to be nice to you by offering to use your cream to birth this brush and what do I get? Big time grief as you try to hijack my brush. Don't you have enough Knotty Badger brushes yet? Last time I compliment you. I may just go edit my reviews of the TSD creams I have. Now you know that I am kidding you just like you are kidding me. :happy108
I just bribed Rodd to send me the brush so I can hold it. That's all. You'll get it soon enough. Still, unused.
The brush is here! Would have made it yesterday but the PO was closed due to the holiday. Got here just before lunch and it was coincidental that I had not shaved yet today. So after lunch I took the brush soaked it in some hot water for about 15 minutes, took a shower and then lovingly used it to make some great lather out of some gunk called TSD Gardenia Rodd you have made me a very fine and soft yet not floppy at all brush. My wife felt it when I took it out of the box and she marveled how soft it was. It was great feeling that softness on my face. The brush fits pretty much in the same holder that my C&E BBB does so I do not need to make another one although I am going to make a separate holder for my mug and brushes. Thanks rodd for the great brush that only enhances my shaving experience. I will be posting a review in the next week or two. Going to visit my daughter in Chicago and will leave the Knotty Badger ER at home. It would be too hard to replace while the C&E BBB would not be.
I'm down to two vintage brushes, A Stanley Home Products pure badger and a Simpson best badger travel brush. Both sets of bristles are outstanding and very usable. I do use them from time to time. I followed the directions from Em's Place when I got them and they turned out fine.
Thanks rodd, the bristles are amazing. The only flaw is some redness leaching into the bristle from the handle. Perhaps the glue. Wrong shade for blood. :happy102 Thanks Neale! It is outstanding, the quality of construction is so much better than any new Simpson I've purchased.
Here's a Made Rite brush I found a couple of weeks ago. It was the best shape vintage brush I have come across to date. I used Em's method of cleaning and the knot looks to be in great shape.
Thanks, JoAnna. I really didn't even need to polish it up any. It is fairly hefty for a 19mm knot brush so I was pretty sure it was bakelite. It is fairly soft, yet still plenty firm enough for soap usage. I'm really not needing it myself so I'm sure I'll put it up for sale when I get the chance.
dont write off a vintage brushes bristles right away. i have around 15 vintage ever ready brushes and ive only had to have one rebristled (rodd rules).
MercV12, awesome restoration. Now I have a new brush with board bristles I want to turn into a silvertip badger, because it has a beautiful Puter Handle, its made by Concord. I have a place for a knot, but I dont know which size to get actually. Secondly, is there a link to a "How to" on putting a fresh knot in a brush? Rodd beautiful work my man! cheers D
