Lol- YMMV For me, life is too short to spend 6 months of it shaving with either of these two soaps in any combination...
Hahahaha I'm not a 1 soap kind of guy, if/when I try this it will become once in a while type of thing =P out of curiosity.
Having used Williams straight as well as mixed (Van der Williams). I really feel Williams get a bad rep because it can be so difficult(takes more practice than most) to lather. However once lathered its a fine shave soap and will perform well. I've never had a chance to use the original formula Williams, but I always here it rocks! That said Arko is still my go to soap for several reasons(price, performance, flexibility(stick or puck), quality and ease of lather making).
There ya go - EASE OF LATHER MAKING! That is why, with so many great soaps out there that are easy to lather, I refuse to fight with Williams.
I like my Williams straight up. And since I've mastered the lathering of Williams, I always get a great lather and a very nice shave.
Haha I wanna try the mix. A while back I bought 2 Williams pucks. I got one in a container, from Time to time I practice lathering it. But I wanna get VDH and try this mix. From ebay it's to expensive
Actually I have no plans to make a Willarko mix.. Beside my being so pleased with Arko straight, mixing tallow(grated) and melt and pour is a BIG PIA!! It was interesting to do "Van der Williams" as an experiment, but I wouldn't want to do it regularly.
When you are Hungry you will just about eat anything. Also when you have a Sadistic Marine Corps DI that enjoys inflicting Pain and Motivation, and get's off by doing it you might just eat it, If you get a chance watch the movie "Full Metal Jacket" you will see.
