Vintage Brush Knot Adhesive

    Interesting. I use epoxy to set my knots, but I use wheat paste to mount my Sumi paintings. Here is an example.

    If you're looking to re-knot an old brush, how do you get the old knot out without damaging the handle?

    I believe @Jayaruh knows many different ways. He is always willing to help anyone. ! @jimjo1031 has some pretty creative idea's and one of his threads helped me harvest the knot , saving the handle .

    Stumbled on this thread after seeing a Buffalo brand brush that said "set in rubber" on it. Great explanation and history from the OP and some excellent photos of old brushes guys. Thanks.

    Excellent write up
    the oldest brushes are indeed cool i wonder how the idea of a shave brush even came about

    regarding silicone. What type do folks recommend for setting a knot?
