Had to take my New birth year Gillette 1959 E4 Fatboy for it's resurrected first shave with it's new owner (ME), cleaned up it looks fairly new & was handled & looked after very well by previous owners. The shave is a little different than my Gillette slim because it arches the blade more in the barn doors bay when closed(smooth). Results CCS,DFS,BBS and can't complain about those results on started setting 5 and changing to 6 on Gillette aggressiveness system on the fly:a12:. Alum block indicated no issues with skin irritation.Gillette 7 Oclock (2) and it performed well.
First shave with 1959 fat boy June12-2019 (2).jpg

For the first shave it felt good in the hand and the shave was excellent and in my sweet spot for final results.
    Have some great shaves.

D70F36BA-5C1D-4006-AA47-129F9D8195C5.jpeg So let’s go on a run of open combs and let us start with this little gem....1930s Gillette New SC replated in rhodium by Chris Spencer at BackRoadsGold. This one has the common bar handle and I really enjoy the smooth shaves I get with it. Honestly, your OC journey should start with a New or Old Type and as New go, the LC or SC are both fantastic.

Today’s soap was RazoRock American Barber just to keep to the classic barbershop theme. Monday was the very enjoyable CBL Barbershop and so as you can’t get too much of a good thing...why not.

Loaded up with a Merkur Super Platinum and got through a thoroughly enjoyable 2 pass DFS. Hump day and we are halfway through the week! Take care, safe travels and happy shaves all!

I went back to my RFB after several days with a Goodwill #160. These open comb vintage Gillettes are outstanding shavers!

Took the 126 out for a spin again. Now, in between uses, I keep the cap and comb loose. When I began, I was amazed at how aggressive the shave began, then I realized it need to be tightened.
The 100-102 were touted as being adjustable based on how you tightened the cap to the comb.
After locking down the cap & comb, the shave was like butter.
