To answer my own question since I should have read the original post closer. It is a 48 - 50 depending if it says pat nos on package 1948 - 1950 or pat nos on pkg 1950. Can't say if it is earlier or not unless it has a center bar without notches. If it has those notches then 48 and up if not then 47 or 48.

The crimp in the handle above the tto knob makes it a Super Speed. On rocket the tto knob moves up and down as you twist it and when closed there is a gap between the two knob and the bottom of the handle.

Starting today is a 3 day mild to wild British shavefest SS style.

On the mild side is the British Blue Tip SS

Somewhere between the standard British SS

And hey babe take a walk on the wild side British Red Tip SS

As far as the blue tip goes there isn't much to say about it. You get a bloodless, banal, drama free type of a shave. Better or worse than a Blue Tip Rocket or American Blue Tip SS I wouldn't know all I know is that of all the vintage Gillettes it is one of the hardest to find any for sale.

A stellar shave this morning. The Tech and the brush are from a buddy in Texas. Loaded up with a fresh Gillette Nacet today. Beautiful 3 pass BBS shave. I love the RazoRock “Gold” as a soap and AS and since the Tech is shiny and gold, I figured I’d continue the theme.

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Gillette Tech - Ball End - Gold
    Blade: Gillette Nacet
    Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L
    Lather: RazoRock Gold
    Aftershave: RazoRock Gold
    Additional Care:
    B.I.G. Co. Alum Block
    Guerlain Homme L’eau Boisee

To me I cannot tell any difference between any of my Russian Gillette blades, they all work well and they are gone after 3 shaves.

As far as the standard British Super Speed goes, I like it. It is definitely better than it's 50s American counterpart and at least as good or if not better than the equivalent Rocket. It is very gentle on the face but not like training wheels mild like a Blue Tip. I got somewhere between a DFS and BBS shave out of it.

This one is a keeper and is being slated for when I need an acceptable only shave without any issues during the shave.
