that makes it a new deluxe not an improved..came with a couple of different handles..very nice razor.. .look up the "new deluxe owners group "thread.

 

Thanks for straightening me out. I went to off do some research after your question. I had thought all the ‘new’ razors had ball end or common bar handles. My reading about the blade patents and the Gillette/AutoStrop contretemps should also have clued me in that the bar head = new, not new improved.

 

its a fine razor,and quite rare compared to other new models..congrats..please post it in the new deluxe owners group thread if you choose..yours has an even rarer handle..

good morning Mac..probably does.i don't have a lot of shaves in with the new improved or old type,or anything that originally used the thicker 3 hole blade.i have one new improved and it is a 1921 tuckaway type with the short handle.i have used it maybe 2 or 3 times.it was very efficient like the old types .but i don't remember how smooth it was.maybe time to test drive it again.i am a new lc,sc.rfb,deluxe fan as they use the newer thinner blades as regular though carbon steel blues were the norm.a lot of gents swear by the old types and improved series.i do plan to use my old types more in the future although they were acquired just to complete the collection.your british new improved is a cool example and quite rare..especially in gold..

I have not used the New Improved lots but with a Feather blade it's a one pass shave that rarely, if ever, needs any buffing. Nostalgia is my main purpose for shaving with these 100 year old razors. I likes me Super Speeds and Aristocrats. I'm still waiting for you to steer me toward a good shaver grade RFB..
