Pretty much. Two passes set at #5 did the trick.

 

awesome..,i have a brit rfb that i use.consistently great shaves,but the plating is near worn out.it's last owner loved it i am sure..

It's a testament to Gillette that those 50 to 100-yer-old razors not only have lasted, but still shave so well. And I have to say that the British ones seem to be even better built than their American cousins.

 

the brit razors used extra plating ,preferred rhodium over gold,and thicker materials especially after the war ,to promote quality manufacturing and long lasting products.i read it in a gillette archive somewhere..

thank you Jim.yes sir ,they stuck to their guns and used their own designs for their high end models..even their flare tops got the rocket design mechanisms..

 

I bought a late 50s Brit Flare Tip from a dealer in Canada. Still waiting for it to be delivered.
