awesome Frank..techs are the gillette workhorse.if they interest you further, try to find a canadian prewar set..note the triangular vent holes in the baseplate.quite easy to find in good shape .came in a few different cases.. 1938-1941 Tech Leather Set Canada.jpeg

I am loving this razor! With Wilkinson blades it's been very good. I like it's compact size. It's perfect for daily use. Since I started shaving with a DE razor 4 weeks ago I feel my technique has improved greatly and I can feel the difference with this "workhorse" razor. I am aware the tech is not 'rare' in that millions were sold over the years but it's still a very good razor! The fact that it's on the milder end of the spectrum works for me in that I can get a nice three pass shave with it and my face feels smooth for hours.

Thank you for the info on the war time Canadian made Gillette techs. I have not seen those before. I would like to get one of those war time fat handle techs with the triangular base plate holes to try out and add to my collection one day. Along with a 1955 speed razor I have two more ball end handle techs coming in the mail. A 1962 (H2) one since that's my birth year and also a gold plated one without a date code on the base plate but it was advertised as "post war" so I'm assuming anywhere between 1946-51. Both of them didn't cost as much and are not in as excellent condition as my 1951 tech that I have been using though. Those I will use as display pieces probably and not shave with them much. :)

very cool Frank.looking forward to seeing your others.i have a soft spot for tech razors and have a few from around the world.the prewar and 40s british flat bottom ones seem to be the most efficient ones for many folks.i prefer mild razors myself.they just require a learning curve to get the best from them..i have no problem with that..if you haven't already, check this site out..

Awesome advice Gary! I just hope @Frank Shaves braces himself for the https://mr-razor.com/ experience...it's like throwing open the door to the rabbit hole & diving in head first. :shocked003: Your Gillette collection is almost certain to grow. ;) Enjoy the ride! :eatdrink047:

I just looked mr-razor.com. Some very fine examples of vintage Gillette razors there! Now I know what to look for when I'm out at the thrift stores.
    Thanks! :eatdrink013:
