So none of these caps match my Single Ring . Among the New Improved there are two different caps, as well as two different plates, one .15mm thicker than the other . Bostonian is the far left NI, the two to the right of the Tuckaway were acquired loose so can't be sure what set they belong to, the beater one far right seems to match the Bostonian. A New Improved New Improved came around c1928 (to fix breaking blades) which explains part of the variance.

Here's the two changes in cap and plates explained.

Based on the above i believe both variations to be determined by production date rather than specific to particular set.

That is great information. I have noticed variations of the design on the stem and the depth of the impression or cuts in the handle design on the New Standard/Bostonian. It is also found on the base of the Tuckaway handles. Finding documentation that gives reason to the visible differences is always nice.

This is one of the ways I like to do research! Thanks. This could easily tie me up for some time.
Let me add, that one of the noticeable differences on the NI razors is the ferrule.
The New Improved Razor was identified as the 106.
In 1928 Gillette released the 126, which was a modified 106, narrowing shoulders of the ferrule. You can clearly see this difference in the shared image of the NI's here. The one on the far right is clearly a 106. The middle 2 NI's look to be 126 models. The NI on the far left is a bit challenging to tell for sure from the picture.

Glad to be of service. Fortunately no shortage of Gillette lawsuits to learn from.
