Thank You kindly and yes indeed it's a '47 Aristocrat. It looks like new. And I suppose you'd be mad if you knew that I gave $44 for it. ;)

I've often wondered why Gillette quit making the '47 Aristocrat. I don't see how they could improve on it. Yep, I love my super speeds the 40's thru the 70's but? The Aristocrat is a FatBoy / super speed already setup for you. ;) One thing for sure, there's a Gillette razor for everyone's taste in the whole wide world. :)

thats awesome sir, i paid around $60 for mine with case, blade bank and orig. blades .there was a run of mint ones 2 or so years ago that went for good prices. they aren't very rare compared to others..and prices are still all over the place on the bay..i have seen crap ones for $200+ and mint ones for less than $100 ,including my own. my purchase was from a non razor collector type shop so i was lucky..others think they are worth hundreds. they are getting scarcer, these were sold during christmas months, and after war time people just put them away for special..congrats sir, great score..

the line was continued until 1951, then they produced the president in rhodium and the diplomat in gold until 1954/5 ish. could be off a year or so..they were similar razors but no aristocrat label.i think the brits continued the line until the fatboy was produced in 58. speculation again..there was also a limited run of executives made in 1949/50..cool stuff..

Hi Gary, I don’t see too many of those Federal Sets anymore. Either most of them didn’t survive the years, or there were never very many in the first place. I have one too, but I think mine is a little rough.
    Great choice man!

thank you Alan, this one had the usual handle ailments that i repaired which probably caused its very early retirement into a drawer,,virtually unused looking and not a replate..no patent or reissue numbers on the baseplate so appears legit..:)

I was more referring to the 'nn', I always thought that notchless bar held the blade more square. At least that's the way I think. :)
