some more super additions to your collection Gary btw I often wonder about those tiny splits in the handles, they don't seem to phase you
Nice Stuart, the Fatboy + Kai has to be a good shave, right? So far I am still resisting the urge for a Fatboy, but you keep tempting me Stuart!
thank you Chris.these early ball end and similar handles are prone to cracks from the original assembly process.some split completely across the handle.i purchased a mid 20's old type pocket set NOS with a completely split handle for cheap..new case, shipper etc.found a near mint uncracked handle(rare) and resold it.here is the u.s New LC plate and cap from a 1930 Federal set.would have come with a split ball end handle.note the logo stamping is off kilter, like a rare stamp or coin...but seriously,i will use this plate and cap with a mint gold tech fat handle and have a fantastically shaving new razor..
this particular canadian handle has been cleaned and epoxied to stabilize the crack.it will last as long as it will, maybe crack more.
very cool Chris.so your 1938 'crat has the "400621" baseplate, while my 1939 has the "430030" baseplate.are they different?..not sure.both are rhodium plated and i believe made one year only each.the 430030 baseplate was carried forward onto later brit made safety bar aristocrat models.the 1936-37 models are silver plated.i believe the '36-7 models have the flat non "H' center bar.
