Thx Gary. Are you suggesting those older blades are better because they are sharper/smoother/last longer perhaps? Or is it a subjective thing maybe. I've picked up a few older ones in the last week and need to devise a way to test them back to back (or side by side, or somehow) or maybe just enjoy them.
the older stainless blades last far longer and in some cases hold a better edge due to better quality steel.back in the day when DE were still king the competition made for better blades.today few care as much because of cheaper steel available, barbers can only use 1 blade per client, due to health rules, and profit margins are far less.pick up any vintage gillette, wilkinson sword, schick or personna and give them a test..i recently scored some britsh made gillette super silvers from the 1970s,very nice,10 easy shaves before they dull out,,depending on beard type and usage..today' spoilers will cost you a $1 per blade but will easily get 10+ shaves per..however,if you do 3 shaves and done with each blade it's not worth the expense.

thanks Gary, well 10 shaves per blade would be good! At USD $1 per blade that's around 1.5+ ozzie. Might be fun to try at some stage
take 2 similar techs-they are all similar-and load one with a spoiler and the other with any modern blade you choose, use each razor on each side of face,or leg or what ever.alternate razors to sides/legs if you wish.eventually one will dull out before the other, see which one wins..many folks have done shave offs on this forum.here is another blade challenge thread,a more recent one i am testing stuff on.. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/maximus-de-blade-torture-challenge.67912/
