Having the CF a little soft might have given you a leg up on the lathering process actually. Give it lots of lather time and you'll be happy.
Sooooooo! First shave with the CF went reasonably well. I used my trusty Vulfix brush and my ice cream dish along with the CF. I took the brush from the sink, shook it 3 or so times, gave it a nice twirl around in the container, and went onto lathering. Half way through I added a few drops of water and the stuff about doubled in size instantly. This stuff is very nice! It has a great pure lime scent! Everything about the shave was great except for the buffering value. I didnt feel that it provided much protection. I wont pass judgement on it yet because everybody says this stuff is tricky, so I'll have to give it a few more trys with different amounts of cream and water and see how it does. Already, this stuff is great. I think everybody needs to atleast try this stuff, if not own a tub. I wish they made small, less expensive tubs than the normal ones for sale. Anyways, I give it a thumbs up. Good stuff! Good scent! ps. My face also feels wonderful! This stuff is very moisturizing!
Jay, I'm glad to hear you found the CF to be enjoyable. Definately a YMMV thing there. I thought it was terribly overscented and didn't smell like natural lime at all to me. I'm a big fan of Trumper Lime scents despite how poorly I think the cream performs, it does smell nice. The aftershave and cologne are wonderful despite the short longevity. Luckily, I found some poor sucker to dump my tub of CF on at lunch today. Hopefully he'll have better luck with it than I did :happy102
Shoulda dumped it this way. I'm sure I could find something to do with that worthless crap :laugh042 I'll have to make my sample last
Mike, how does the GFT Lime soap compare to others of the same type (not the glycerins)? I'm thinking of getting some next week. Thanks. Sorry about the hijack. Jordan
I think the GFT Lime soap has a really nice gentle and natural scent to it. It's light and pleasant, not way overpowering like some of the other lime products out there that I've tried. I'm just not big on scents that jump out and nail you in the sinuses, that's what colognes are for :happy102 As far as performance, it provides a very good lather and shave, not quite as good as DR Harris, but very good. I recommend it.
Mike, im the other boat. I think the GFT Lime provides a wonderful shave, but smells like hell. The almond is a little to sweet for me, but nice on a cold winter day, and the coconut is just great.
just in case y'all were wondering I was not that poor sucker I already have a bottle of Pine Sol at the house Raf
I believe it could. I was just being nice Anyways, I just shaved with the QED Lime stick. It was a great shave. The lather exploded on my brush. It probably took all of 30 seconds to have my brush loaded and my face oozing lather. I'm not using any wonderful brush either, just a plain ol non-silvertip, not to firm, not to floppy rebranded vulfix. I shall continue this review after eating dinner.
Ok. Back to it. This stuff is pretty great. I'd give it a 9/10. It lathers extremely well, its rather slick, cushioned lather. The first hit of lime kicks you in the face, but it simmers down and you get adjusted to it with just a hint of lime. All in all its just good stuff. I'd say for the under 10$ soap, you might as well buy it. I hear all the QED soaps have kick you in the face type scents. But if you find one you like, its damn nice.
I'm glad that the QED worked for you, Jason! I really wanted to love it because of the great smell...
Ukann, what kinda of brush were you using that it wasnt lathering well for you? This thing exploded with lather off my face. As with everything, YMMV
Same here. Trumper lime smelled decent, but WAY too potent. the Castle Forbes, OTOH, is smooth and mellow to my nose. Not a hint of pine in there, either.
Each Lime has it's own character. Really the ONLY Lime so far I have refused to buy based on smell was the T&H. Far too woody with not enough citrus. The Coates was rough the first shave too.. but it has mellowed out a lot now that I got it wet. It smelled like chemicals before.. not like anything specific.. just chemicals. :angry037
I've tried with the 2 brushes I had at the time: 2006 B&B Finest and M&P silvertip. Maybe it had to do with the water we have here? I tried using more water and it would just make it really runny. Oh well. I'm just glad you like it!
