You need to look at the previous thread you posted. You also need to do a better job drying your razor after shaving with it and using cleaning products that dont strip the writing off.

  3. You might want to add spell checker to your list as well ! ;)

Now, now, that wasn't very nice. We have quite a few folks who do not speak English as their first language, and they are welcome at TSD. We try to help everyone we can.

Is this thread about honing perhaps?

No. bmwbmw posted a thread last week asking about treating some rust and stuff on an existing damaged straight.

Yes, I saw that. (I see everything. EVERYTHING!)

But this time he says "restore". It might not be shave ready.

Thanks, JoAnna. I missed that earlier.

If you are in a very humid salty climate it might explain the rusting. Does anyone think some kind of oil treatment might help seal the surface? Somrthing like a nice olive oil bath? Or would that mess with the handle? Maybe rubs with olive oil.

Maybe some gun oil, but that wouldnt offer a permanent solution. He needs to dry his razor off better and store it in a cool DRY place between uses. I would expect a small amount of rust from living in a damp salty place, but the amount on that razor in the time (its a reletively new razor) he has owned it is more likely due to lack of propper care rather than a complete victim of enviroment. Mass is, get the rust off, and keep it dry. Byebye pretty lettering.

If it is just some light surface rust, you could try a little polish like MAAS or some Flitz or something similar on the blade with a soft cloth...(This will remove your Goldwash on the blade though).....if the rust is more severe a dremel rotary tool with a felt polish wheel may be needed...

    Nonsense! :)

It's easy to forget we have international friends visiting and seeking help from us here at TSD. We just need to remember to try our best to help.

Is it okay if we pick on the other Americans? Or how "aboat" our Canadian neighbors, eh?
