Check out Caveman, which has a great new album. Or Beck's new single, "Wow." Or Car Seat Headrest. Or Kyle Craft. I work at a music discovery public radio station. There's a lot of great new music that deserves to be heard.
I lived in the Atlanta area between 1990 - 2010. Great music scene from very small clubs to three day festivals. I was fortunate to catch Local H at The Masquerade. At the same club I also saw Weird Al, Cannibal Corpse, & Rancid.
My wife and I are both Israeli - I'm of Russian origin and she's of Moroccan origin. This song, A'Hiyaana is one of her favorites and mine as well. The singer is Cheikh Mwizo who's a famous Moroccan Jewish singer who we had the pleasure of meeting at a concert in Paris a few years ago.
" (English translation) Eyes "Oh! Beloved Smiling in my eyes Oh! Beloved Smiling in my eyes Oh! Beloved residing in my heart My life is yours Before I die I wish to give you my life I looked at you and my eyes fell in love with you My eyes were so mesmerized they forgot the whole world I looked at you and my eyes fell in love with you My eyes were so mesmerized they forgot the whole world Even God must have fallen in love..." Beautiful song! If I did it right. Was that correct?
Not sure...some god-awful caterwaulin' from the living room. Landlady must have one of those singing shows on.
The best metal band on the planet. I wish I lived in Germany so I could see them headline the Wacken Open Air festival next weekend !!!
...bet some of you didn't know Steve Miller's summer classic was a cover of an old, blind, blues player named Paul Pena.
10,000 Maniacs/Natalie Merchant is some of the best the nineties had to offer, both musically and lyrically. One of my faves, Natalie out in front of 10,000 Maniacs singing "Candy Everybody Wants"
If you liked nineties alt-rock or college radio, this band was probably your favorite band's favorite band. Nobody rocked harder than the Pixies in the late eighties/early nineties. Letter to Memphis - the Pixies Kurt Cobain to Rolling Stone, about his album Nevermind, said he just wanted to make a record that sounded as good as the Pixies.
