I saw your post, I had some English Beat, Specials, and some early Jamaican Dance Hall stuff going (Prince Buster, General Echo) this morning... Good stuffs...
As you guys can probably tell I'm very much into Greek music from the 70's and 80's because Greece was my home for 15 years after I left Israel. This video is music which although I love, many people might hate these songs for political reasons. If you support the PASOK party like I do, this is music for your pleasure. If you support SYRIZA, maybe you will, maybe you won't. If you support the Hyrssi Avghi party, (Golden Dawn) then don't and I mean DON'T listen to these songs.
If you are at all into the jazz funk fusion thing, this set brings it down. With a twelve pound sledgehammer.
Kali mera, Ilie (Good morning, Sun!) Another song which I love and which almost got me in a fist fight when I was singing it one day while walking my dog. Strangely enough the guy who objected as also a non-Greek. He backed off FAST when my dog started snarling at him - it's not a very good move to get a 130+ pound German Shepherd pissed off! lollll
My daughter was asking me "Daddy, what are you singing?" I told her, "Ilana, my love, these are songs I know from the time before you were born!" Again, be CAREFUL where you sing this song. It can be controversial!
Every Friday on the overhead they play Oldies. Currently playing, The King, "Heartbreak Hotel". "Thank you, thank you very much."
As I've posted, I'm listening to the Billy Joel Channel on SiriusXM in my truck. However man does not live by Joel alone. I took my son back to school today and on the way home decided to listen to something different. First an explanation. Growing up my Mom(who was a stay at home Mom) listened to WNEW-AM 1130. Klavan & Finch, in the morning, William B. Williams at 1000 and Jim Lowe in the afternoon. Until I got to Junior High I thought Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme et al was the only music. As I embraced rock, the music I grew up with receded into the back of my mind. As I got older though it came back. So today I broke out a Time/Life Music CD I bought for a buck at the fleamarket back in October. Gene Krupa, one of the best drummers ever. Enjoy.
Susan Tedeschi is not only one of the best voices out there today, but she is just a class act and a warm human being.
That voice though...And she is just as good - in my opinion better - live. The whole band excels live. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Lots of renditions of this song over the years. CCR did it best, but the Fogerty version with an orchestra was awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
