Much to the chagrin of my co-workers I have been on a Slayer kick recently. Today is the God Hates Us All album.
I don't know what to call the Ramones honestly! Not exactly like any other band. East Coast Garage Rock?
They are Punk Rock. Edit to add.... There are many different sub-genres of punk and there is a lot of cross over... NYHC, Power Pop Punk, Oi, Cow Punk, etc.... The few times I saw them were definitely punk rock shows. Also if you have never seen it, check out the documentary on them, End of the Century.
I am with you. Rexway was a local cowpunk group I used to love. I was at this show in LA, coincidentally.
Good Stuff.... I saw some youtube videos of shows I have seen and they make me feel old..... BTW, this was at the Khyber Pass Pub in Philly, not CBGB in NYC. One of my favorite shows of all time.
This is probably my favorite song, followed closely by Rip This Joint.... I also enjoy the Clarence Gatemouth Brown cover as well...
Love that! I always thought the grimy blues driven Stones was England's logical escape from the syrupy sweet Liverpool stuff.
My god yes.... I really don't care for the bubble gum pop Beatles. I have a bootleg of the Chess Sessions from '64. Good bluesy early stuff.
