Saw my friend Chris Matheos playing bass with Rockin Johnny Burgin on Saturday night at a local club. They have been touring and Chris's amp died right after his last gig, gave him one for the rest of the tour. Didn't get my own video but there's some great stuff here.
The last few weeks I discovered something on youtube called "reaction" videos.Usually some black guy or girl ,a few white folks who are hip-hop or rap afficianados who listen to a video of some musical type they are not familiar with and react to it.The fields of music are usually classic rock, country, metal of different types. Some of these vids are pretty basic "oh my god I really felt like he was singing to me".My favorites are two guys who have a channel called "lost in vegas" they do a blind listen to songs that viewers recommend. And you can tell they have did no prior research as they pick some of the worst versions of songs out there. But one of the dudes is a drummer so he brings a bit of knowledge to the vids and they will stop the songs at various points and discuss what is going on in the song or just make general comments- "wow that was a nice transition between verses, they have done five transitions in this song.Wish some hip-hop groups would do this."for a queen song . or in the case of Jethro Tull "I don't even know what to call this kind of music".Brad Paisley/Alison Krause "the best song I will never listen to again".They are usually pretty good and listen to a very diverse field of music.Including some stuff I cannot get through. But they are entertaining, give'm a shot.
