Yeah, if the flare tip is a 1950's type. There weren't any good shots of it with the head closed, so it's hard to tell if it's an early or late model. If it's early, great, it goes with the case. If it's a late model with the lower head profile, great, they shave better. (IMO) Either way is a win win situation for me.
This is a really nice soap. The members voted on having Mango added to the soap to improve the post shave feel but I really couldn't tell a difference as thought it was pretty darn good/smooth to begin with. The aroma is the strongest of his soaps that I have tried and I have tried all four to date. Scent is hard to describe; Citrusy, with their manna tobacco aroma mix and I do pick up some lavender but then has a woodsy-musky aroma. I like the scent and went ahead and ordered a backup tin.
Picked up a vintage Gurelan (Spain) for $17. Happy about that since you don't see them very often and I really like the handle.
Waiting for my '61 Fat Boy to come back from Razor Emporium after a Tune Up! My wife found it at a local thrift shop for $8. It looked much better than this after MY cleanup before sending it off for it's tune up. PS: It's not crooked, the picture is...
I lost. $30 max bid on a cased Schick Krona with another Krona and a Knack. Figured it was an easy win. Turned out to be an easy loss. I'm done. No more shave stuff till August.
1. Travel box 2. The Red Tip and box of vintage lead holders/mechanical pencil my dad is holding for me when we go see them in a few weeks. I gave up on using the RT a few years ago but now that I'm regularly using a mild blade (Big Ben), I've been curious about the pairing. They still go too high for me on the bay so dad's going to hook me up.
Funny, I have had the same thought more or less. Used to own a red tip, remembered it as a bit too harsh a shaver, but figured it's been a couple of years, my technique may have improved. Besides, it's coming with a blue tip, which I haven't tried yet. It will be fun putting all the razors through their paces.
Last little buy before "No Buy July" - waiting on this Phoenix Double Open Comb DE. Anybody here ever try one? I'd welcome your thoughts! It certainly looks intriguing, and despite its fierce appearance, is supposed to be a relatively non-aggressive shave. Since I have a very tough beard, which requires a certain amount of pressure and 4 passes, I'm not much into aggressive.
Have one, not a very aggresive shave, used feathers in it and it did the job. At the correct angle the upper comb doesn't leave shaving soap behind as supposed to, surprise. It's in my rotation...
Thanks. Was taken on full time back in January in the Business/Admin department at a school for kids with learning and behavioral issues. So far, so good. Our department works year round. During the summer, though, it's just Mon-Thu, Fridays PAID OFF!
