It's a German brand. I don't know anything more than that, though. Edit: Actually, I think that might be incorrect and based off of the assumption that since the Daveco Garanti straight razor blades were made in Germany, the DE must be made there as well. Garanti is "warranted" or "guaranteed" in Swedish, and is the only language that word appears in, other than as a plural of warranty in Italian, and "warranties" doesn't make sense to put on a single razor. I believe it's Swedish, and I bet Darkbulb thinks so, too, as it seems he's made it his life's work to corner the vintage Swedish razor market.
That's what I like about this Forum....The DEs and SEs are all one Section....Every other forum I've seen are separate and wee cliques develop....Everybody mucks in and shares Intel here.... Brilliant... Billy
After backing the Single Edge injector yesterday, I decided to I didn't want to wait until next March to start playing with injectors... so I found a Schick Model I and Model J, together as a lot for $13 shipped on ebay. No pictures of the undersides of either razor, hopefully they're in good working order. Expecting to put in a little time getting them cleaned up. Picked up a 20-pack of the Personna blades as well.
I picked up this little guy off the 'Bay. An early smaller version of the Simpson's Wee Scot. Over on B&B, they call this the Nano Scot. The seller didn't know what it really was. This will be my first Simpson's brush. What a one to start out with, huh? It was listed (truthfully, if not accurately) as "vtg Shaving Soap Brush Bakelite Butterscotch Rare England Badger Miniature"
Most of my Schick Collection Dates back to the early B Type Repeaters, Type D, Type F, through the E & G Types......I have a more Modern Schick Adjustable, but I recently acquired a Couple of Ladies Eversharp injectors sporting the Hydro Magic heads which is basically a Type J that opens for cleaning.....I must say that I am seriously impressed with the Hydro Magic......I just love shaving with it.. These Type J & the Type I are on the Milder Side for sure than the earlier ones....The Heads have a steeper angle of attack..... They have a larger surface of the Head Flat against the Face which makes them easier to use than the earlier models... That's the key to shaving with a Schick Injector.....Totally Flat Against the Face...Some folks try too hard with them and end up with a bad shave because they do not trust the simplicity of shaving Totally "Flat Against the Face" and nothing else.....That said....You can get away with using a fair bit of pressure with these later models....The Schick instructions advice this and it was a selling point.....That is just down to trial & error.....These are super efficient injectors.... Enjoy..... Billy
I am waiting on one of my Holy Grail razors. I have been trying to get one for awhile but kept getting outbid. I finally sniped one that was poorly listed as part of a lot. My "Pat Apl'd For" Gillette Double Ring is in transit
Congrats on that score - and I bet you're happy it didn't come up for sale a couple of weeks ago Seeing the impact Gillette had on the wetshaving world it should be a pretty amazing feeling to shave with one of the first razors they ever made....
I have a 1918 old style from ww1, oc, and its a great shave and an aggressive razor due to the different thickness of the original Blades vs today's Blades, but still a great shave
I'm actually not waiting on shave products...??? I am waiting on a Schaeffer fountain pen, med nib ss to come in, and a custom made rosewood and gold fountain pen.
I googled that schaeffer fountain pen, they look amazing. I bought a 5$ fountain pen, i have wanted one a while. Im gonna see what I think about them. Maybe buy a more expensive one later on
