  2. im currently waiting for an order I placed with Gingers Garden. I have 2 oz samples of the following: Private Reserve, Suede, Green Irish Tweed, and Cognac Havana.

I have the Haight Ashbury soap which is the coconut oil version and I like it a lot, so im curious to see how it compares to the glycerin version. Their glycerin soaps have some good ingredients and are nice sized samples.

  3. lol it sounds like it. Its a very nice piece and I would be excited if I were you too. enjoy!
  4. Thanks. I believe it is unnumbered. I will post more info with pics when I get it.

  6. Got five packages that's been lying around for three-four days unopened.
It seems like whenever I get around to open them something pulls my attention elsewhere.
Planning to have a small x-mas tomorrow evening though and open 'em all.

  11. Waiting on this glass negative plate.
According to the listing it's a dry glass plate negative that was used to produce a catalog in the late 1800's-early 1900's.
    7x11 inches big

Two minutes in photoshop reversing the negative, this is roughly what the finished print would had looked like back in the days:

Since I really like both wetshaving and photography it's a really neat thing to me.
Apparently I am the only one who felt that way as I was the only bidder on it, at $14, and the other one remains unsold (and it even has three brushes/mugs :) ):

  13. Well, I'm waiting for a shaving brush.
This one is rather special. Some of you may know that Rubberset did a series of shaving brushes with fishing flies embedded in the handles. The English manufacturer Rooney also made some, or at least one.

  15. That is so cool. I knew Rubberset made one but had no idea about Rooney.

  16. Me either. It was pure luck that I stumbled across this one on eBay. I've done some serious searching on the various forums and haven't come across any mention of any of the English brushmakers making these kind of brushes.

Edit: the amusing thing is, the fishing fly inside the brush might be worth more than the brush itself, depending on the maker.
  17. Custom order?
  18. I was under the impression that Rooney didn't do that sort of thing, except for their clients, and those brushes were always marked with the seller's brand, i.e. Boots, Geo F. Trumper, and others.

This brush comes in a Rooney presentation box, in a style I've never seen before. This would seem to indicate that this brush is very old, and was kept as a collector's item, not for use.

I'm afraid that unfortunately, I will be using it. :)
