I have some mahogany and other leather dye Ive used on rifle stocks but not sure how this wood will take it.

Depend on the effect your going for ...
The vintage look with an ebony or oil staining into the grain of the wood the a nice oil finish. Like an old tool with patina.
A clear finish to look like NOS.
A custom coloring achieved in various ways such as stain, dye or ink.

Viewing the lettering is faded, I think a nice badger knot and the vintage look ... very hipster. Will sell well if you so desire.

Excellent score and very nice Tech, so good that Feather copied it.

 

If you do want the vintage look Minwax Special Walnut is great for that look with a teak oil finish then rubbed with Johnson's paste wax.

 

I dont have teak but I have tung oil currently. Im sure I can find teak locally.

Tung oil is good for item with little contact to water, but I prefer Teak oil for water contact.

Thanks. The razor wasn't too expensive but shipping from France a killer. There's a pair of Gibbs still available on eBay France (including a 17) but the adjustment ring is stuck so a bit of a crapshoot. Maybe WD40 would free it up I don't know. Anyway although this cost a bit with the shipping, (considering it's a 15) I'm assured it functions properly.

If I use my tablet, I just upload the pic from my files. If it's too big, it can be cropped or resized from it's built in imaging program, which a lot of smart phones have. Sometimes I'll send my pics to Dropbox and and get them from there. Tapatalk just wouldn't work good, maybe I'll try again another time.

 

I just bought a no17 this weekend. I agree the shipping from France is high but I couldn't find one in the states. I'm pretty excited.

 

Did you get the $40 something one ??? That was a stupid good deal. I fell asleep.
