Yes! Exactly 5 months ago I paid for the razor, from the video I just watched it's a pretty cool razor.

Besides being stainless, I like the way the head has a slimmer profile than other modern adjustable razors.

I believe it shows that a lot of thought went into this razor, of course the way it shaves will be the real test. I also like the slimmer head profile.

Hmm .I know a lot went into how to manufacture at a reasonable cost but the design is an homage/copy of the Gibbs (1937) using stainless steel and a longer handle, right down to the off-center red dot on the adjustment dial. Matt has yet to comment on what other design tweaks he chose to make other than adding Gillette date codes.

In the video he says Gillette and Gibbs, what I saw when I held it in my hand was a new version of the gibbs. A small element of the rectangular tabs slot was taken from Gillette . When I talke to him about the razor, he mentioned something about how he came to the price. I don't remember the exact wording but it's as if he based it on what everyone else is selling their razors and took into account it's also an adjustable. It made me believe that the price point could of been cheaper. But oh well. Free market and all

To say on the order of "we took from both Gibbs and Gillette to come up with our own design" seems a real stretch and frankly disingenuous. When PAA makes a copy they say they made a copy and did x to change it and they put it up front in the razor description. RE isn't doing that which I think is unfortunate. While they mention Gillette (date codes) there's nothing in the RE description on the website to credit the original Gibbs design.

Fewer would know where PAA designs come from given their relative obscurity compared to the Gibbs. It's just good form to give credit where credit is due. I don't think Matt would lose many sales by acknowledging the debt to potential customers as up front as he did to enthusiasts when he brought both razors to Big Shave West.

What Matt did to compensate for the deletion of the Gibbs' side tabs was to add two posts to the baseplate, which is exactly what Personna had done in modifying the design for standard blades in '53. Technically I guess the direct line is to that Personna Micrometric

Shaving politics don't apply when I'm spending my money, you have every right not to buy this razor. It doesn't matter to me if Gibbs is acknowledged or not. I can careless. What about Cola? Isn't that Coke or Pepsi? Again, don't buy if you don't like.

    I don't think people care, I can't buy a NOS Gibbs for $209. Can't.

You can certainly buy a mint condition one for that which, if you're going to shave with it, should be sufficient. You can pay a whole lot less for a very nice one. Start haunting the French trade shaving forum and eBay France. I paid €40 for my cased No 15. I believe Jorge paid about the same for his.

Say what? I like the razor a lot and I'd buy one if I had the dough. Precisely because it should improve on a solid design. I also think it's priced fairly. My comments have nothing to do with whether it's a good razor or not.

Gibbs have blade issues. The OEM blades are not great and modifying blades is hit or miss.
