What's the easiest way to widen a hole, without screwing it up ?

 

Dremel and a sanding bit is what I use to slowly increase the size

A step drill bit from Harbor freight. Works like a charm.

 

After I have the knot removed, I use a sanding drum like the ones in this picture. Just take it slow.
