I’m waiting on the Mergress with the bronze knob. I have been looking for a stainless steel razor that will give me a great shave but I just sold my Timeless; couldn’t get a proper shave. I had ATT, same. I recently bought a Blackbird polished closed comb, only two shaves in and a bit disappointed my beloved Voskhods don’t perform well with this razor. That got me thinking, what good is a stainless steel razor that won’t give me a great shave. I have a long handle Progress that gives me the best shave, so I thought, maybe a Mergress: looks great, hefty somewhat like steel and maybe I can get a great shave with it. I will hopefully have it in I’m guessing 3 weeks , as customs needs to keep it, much longer than necessary.

 

You know I was just thinking about your situation and thought about the asylum evolution . Is stainless steel and it's a mild razor.

 

Think I will calm down, use the Blackbird for a bit and refrain from buying before my wife divorces me. My concern for the perfect stainless steel razor has begun to take the fun out of this hobby.

 

You know the boys at customs have to shave too.
Hope they clean it up before you get it.

I've been looking for one of these for a long time and pulled the trigger today. It is a Weck US Military Straight. I used these to prep patients when I was in the army.

 

Some maggard 2 band finest, 2 whipped dog 22mm silertips and also some test knots from a new distributor in the US!

I ordered some herbal supplements from evitamins and added Aubrey Organics City Rhythms After shave ,Shave Cream and Giovanni moisturizing shave cream.I'm looking forward to trying the aubrey products,suppose to be cedar and sandalwood scent.Should come in fairly soon.

 

I just scored a Gillette Atra Elite 24kt gold plated razor with a wooden handle off of ebay. I kept seeing them for 90 to 125 bucks but a seller accepted my offer for 40 dollars. It appears that it may have a few scratches and scuff marks but I collect Atras / Contours and have been wanting one of these. I don't plan on using it but I was wondering what everyone thought of using wood as a razor handle? Getting this razor makes me want to try out one that isn't so rare to add to my shaving rotation.

 

The handle looks to be a Philips Philite but I haven't seen this head for the Philite. Could be a Frankensituation.

Possibly. It was offered as a Philite. It's the baseplate which I'm unsure about. But then there isn't much online.
