A while back I had ordered a shavette and it got lost in the mail apparently.I had to get Ebay involved and then the vendor sent a replacement apparently 2 day mail.So that is a point in the vendors favor.Somewhat makes up for his lack of communication earlier. However he sent a shavette that that has one of the scales discolored. The scales are wood, dark brown in color. But one of the scales has a blonde section about a half inch by a quarter inch.Looks like it could have been an area of dead wood .Gripes my aszz.If you have a customer who is annoyed would you send a good speciman or would you sent an obvious poor sample? Not real happy here.
Pics ... I'm not saying "It's not big deal", but are you sure it's not just a color variation in the wood? Might just be a bit of character in the wood. I know how this sort of thing can just frost your day.
Sorry Jim ... I bid against you on the Wilkinson. It was so pretty ... at least I stopped at $13. Is it your first Sticky?
I blame @Kraken98 ... I also thank him for the heads up. It's a nice little Travel Simplex ... a Tech clone, I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Yes, the Sticky has been on my want list for ages. When I saw one for under $50 cased I jumped. Oddly my maximum bid was also $50 so I would have been very annoyed if I was outbid. I have no issues with bidding against anybody. May he with the largest cash reserves win!
I pick one up about 4 months back with a very minor crack in the head, but work great. It's not aggressive by any means, but gives me a sweet shave. I'm glad you got it, I only bid on it cause it was so nice with the case.
And more on topic currently I am waiting on two things one of those cool little mechanical servant tools but as well I'm a stickler for anything Russian and I saw this bakelite with what looked like Cyrillic on the box and I just had to buy it. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
I don't mind a bit of color variation or wood grain variation,in some cases it looks nice.In this case you have a scale that is dark brown like chestnut and then one small abrupt patch of blonde-tan wood almost a light walnut shell color.Looking at it from the side the light color area goes concave into the wood like ) which makes me think it was a natural defect. The color difference is rather jarring and not pleasant to look at.The rest of the wood is nice and has a fine grain .If the scales were of all of the light color they would be rather nice.As it is it just screams "screw up".IMO
