That's the first thing I'll check out. Not that anybody needs a razor heavier than the Merkur. The lighter QShave is just fine for me. Why Merkur decided to throw design/engine/tooling money into the Vision rather then fix what was wrong with the Futur is beyond me.

I think this is what your razor is although the handle is different. It’s a Gillette NEW

Late 1920's Kriss Kross stropper and razor. Not terribly exciting on this one, but the first time I have seen the razor with a box and instructions.

I also had a bid on these, with apparently a huge reserve. Nobody else wanted them, so the seller offered them to me for the base bid. It works out, even with shipping, to about $5.25 per razor, so I don't see it as a loss.

And how does one know that it is a military issue brush? is there something on the bottom of the brush or a reference I can find out about?

From what I gather, these were manufactured for the military and couldn't be sold publicly due to the omission of sterilized that was mandatory on all publicly sold shaving brushes due to the potential of contracting anthrax. Sterilization of brushes was mandatory after the early 1920's; hence you can narrow down date of a brush whether it is marked "sterilized" or not.

 

I ordered a jar (new plastic) of Lime from Mike's Natural Soap.
