Congrats man!!! That is absolutely gorgeous. I imagine you had to have paid over $100 for that beauty. My holy grail razor for which I don't have the funds to justify but I can always just dream by looking at yours. Very sweet. Looks to be in amazing condition. I hope you'll shave with it and not just use it for display purposes. Many happy shaves with that baby.
I agree. The satin finish makes it look that way. I like it but it bugs me that I don’t have a handle to match them. I hate brushed/satin and shiny mixed together.
Its the Ikon Matte Bulldog of course. https://www.ikonrazors.com/shop/ikon-handles/ikon-85mm-matte-bulldog-handle/
I seem to be having an unusual week for winning auctions with low bids. First was the vintage United Airlines toiletry kit which I bid on for the Schick Injector and vintage blades: Next, was a couple of parts lots: I mostly wanted the second one for the New SC baseplate as the one I have is missing an inner tooth. Lastly, there was the one I had no thoughts of actually winning. For an opening bid of $9.99 + $3.00 shipping, I won this: A Schick B1 with the leather case (though it appears that the case has seen better days). What shocks me is that I'm paying less for this one than for my other silver B1 (and you all told me that that was a bargain).
It might have been a tad over $100.00... I shave with all my pups! Otherwise I'm just collecting expensive paperweights,,,
Coming soon in the mail 250 blades of vintage Gillette Super Stainless (spoiler) (16) packs of 15 blades each and (1) pack of 10 blades
I have that same airline set. Mine in not that complete or in that good of shape although the razor is in great shape still. As far as the B1 that is beyond a bargain. Will be fun to see how it cleans up!! What knot will be going into that beautiful handle?
I'm curious to see how the B1 cleans up as well. It looks a bit rougher than my other one, but that may be the tarnish. What I really need is some advice on how to clean up and recondition the leather case.
Assuming it's leather and not a man-made imitation, I'd start with Saddle Soap. That will help to remove dirt, and may soften the dried leather. You might finish with Mink oil or a similar restorative / waterproofer.
