100 Voskhods from Moscow.

Which actually sounds like the name of a movie, if you didn't know what Voskhods are.

Rod aptly named that Frozen Tundra! Smells like earth and menthol. Just couldn't get along with the scent myself, great performer as all his stuff is, just not my thing. Too many of his other scents that I just fell in love with.

In the coming days, I anticipate the arrival of the following items. Both from the 'bay.

The first is a vintage leather 'Russia Shell' strop#169 from Certifyd (1900-1940)— I have a vintage Certifyd 'Red Imp' which is an exceptionally well-made strop. This one has some wear, but should clean-up and restore nicely.


The second was an 'impulse' purchase as I have a soft spot for some of the old Wostenholm Sheffield razors. This one got little attention from bidders and appears to be in decent shape. The blade & scales both should clean, polish up and be quite serviceable!

 

Traded my thrice used BK8 for a Thater 4125/1 2-band bulb. Already own a VP Hardy 700040 and DaVinci 290 which are huge pillow top silvertips and wanted a black handled Thater 2-band to compliment my Thäter Cocobola 2-band.

 

Well the list gets longer. Still waiting on the 140 Russian blades with Rapira razor, which has left Moscow now. Also 100 Voskhod blades that just shipped today. Add to that a 46-50 fat handled Tech and a 1959 ball end Tech. Although I think the '59 is in the mailbox now. Just haven't had a chance to check today. Oh, and a tub of Arko.

 

I've got an old type with no markings. I believe it was made between 1920-28.

 

The years between serial numbers and date codes were 1930-49, or else 1903 which was prior to any serial numbers. At least that's what wiki.badgerandblade.com/US_Gillette_Dating_Information indicates.

 

Ordered some soap samples from the shop here! they are body shop maca root, trumper violet, tobs grapefruit, castle forbes lime, and truefitt and hill lavender. Also a sample of the shave den aftershave milk bourbon vanilla. and some voskhod blades that I've heard a lot about around here but haven't tried yet. sample galore!! might be forgetting a soap or two... close enough though. also still waiting on that g12 scuttle thats stuck in bad whether in the northeast! -_-

That's where my 46 tech is headed as soon as I get it. Cleaning it and putting it in line.

 

As many things are named Voskhod it could be.

 

You will be so happy! He did a Tech for me, its perfect. I noted on his website that he's really swamped. He says to contact him before you send it.

 

Yeah. He has my 46 SS right now in line. When I talked to him he really impressed me. Everything I've seen of his work explains why he is so busy, plus he seems like an awesome guy.

 

A true gentleman, excellent craftsman and all around good guy. Second-to-none.
