Like Dave mentioned, usually when the patent date is at the top it means the handle was taken apart and reinstalled upside down. It could be through 90 years of existence at some point the ends came off and someone inserted them wrong, I certainly have done it.

Yep, who knows... not even a hairline crack starting top or bottom. I won't be messing with it!

 

Rotbart Mond-Extra vest pocket razor is headed my way. I'm pretty sure it should clean up nicely. The case looks a bit rough & likely needs relined though.

I would have gambled if I wasn't tied up. I call it a GREAT score and bet the cap surprises you on being great condition

 

many of those cases had a purplish-blue lining. if needed I can send you enough to re-line it, or I can do it.

I needed A proper pair of barber shears for my hair cutting kit; the cheap pair just weren't doing an adequate job. I looked in to a vintage pair of Boker and a pair of Carl Monkhouse (made in Ellicotville NY), but decided on a nice pair of Wiss "One Thousand".

I'll probably blue the handles after cleaning them up.
