Nope, I don't think so... I use other lanolin products with no problems. I use other menthol products and they hurt me....

The Body Shop Maca Root shave cream. Can't stand the generic perfumey/laundry detergent scent.

The Flint Edge SC- Is a new English "modern" men's grooming line. The shave cream smells like kerosene. The after-shave balm is not much better. Funny enough, it's designed by the same guy who designed the mens products for The Body Shop.

Palmolive- Didn't know it when I got it, but it smells just like the bath soap, which I don't like.

Jim, I believe you. However, with the Musgo cream, the amount of menthol that's in it is so insignificant, that I myself don't even feel it. Another thing I found out was that the Musgo cream is partly hand-made, so there are some tubes of it that contain more than others. The tube I'm using now seems to contain none, even though on the ingredient list it says that there is menthol. You must have ultra-sensitive skin which just cannot tolerate menthol at all.

Yeah, I got the same feeling, both the cream and the shave stick has that canned goo smell that I don't care to much for, which is quite sad since they are cheap, lathers real well and seems to contain some of those chemicals that soothes razor burn in the canned goo... :/

TGQ Leatherneck Shave soap, is the only thing I couldn't shave with.
There have been others that caused warming or tingling(Penhaligon's English Fern, TOBS avocado), but the Leatherneck is the only one that I felt the need to rinse off before even getting 1 pass done.

Nothing reacts harshly with my skin. Proraso does not even start to tingle until the 3rd pass. Guess I have a cowboy face, huh?

There is nothing I can't use. Obviously I prefer some scents to others.

Well, that's how it is for me to, obviously I could put palmolive on my face and shave with it, and the shave wouldn't be much worse than with anything else, but if I don't have to I wouldn't use it either. The Wellington Cologne is the only scent I really can't make myself use, smells to horrible on my skin... :(

Mama Bear's Aged Spice caused me a great deal of problems. Too bad because it has a wonderful scent and Mama Bear is just a pleasure to deal with.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy other prodcuts from her.

Here is another cream I cannot use--Tabac. The soap is wonderful, but the cream burns me. Strange, yes?

So far, in my limited experience, I don't have too much trouble with the scents of soaps and creams because even if the scent is just so so, it rinses off when I'm done with my shave. Also, with the exception of Mama Bear, I have had no burning or irritation problems. It's the after shave or Eau de Toilette that I use when I'm done shaving. I can't get near most of the scents you can get inexpensively or for a moderate price (think Brute, Aqua Velva, Gio, Polo [which I did like 20 years ago], or anything produced by Liz Claiborne for men). I find them cloyingly sweet. Unfortunately, I like Eau du Sud by Annick Goutal, Concentrate Eau d'Orange and Terre, both by Hermes, l'Occitan by l'Occitane, and Eau Sauvage by Dior. I say unfortunately because for 100 mm spray bottles these run anywhere from almost $50 to over $100 each in department stores (if you can find them) and somewhat less on line. Is it crazy to spend that kind of money for a smell-pretty? Sure. However, has anyone watched e-bay and seen what an unused 40-50 year old puck of Old Spice shaving soap goes for? (And before you ask, yes I have a puck and yes, for me, it makes for an incredible shave. As far as the scent of this soap goes, see my very first sentence.) An after shave or a cologne should be a pick-me-up and put a smile on your face before you open the door to start your day because it's going to hang around you for awhile. Unfortunately, when it comes to EdT's I have champagne taste on a beer budget. (And wouldn't you know, I much prefer champagne to beer. :o)
Is it any wonder that sometimes I think instead of TSD we should just call this site YMMV? :happy102

I have not tried many different products since discovering this new hobby. The only thing I have tried that I detest is bay rum. I cannot stand the smell.

Rose creams make my face burn and I did not do well with Erasmic cream.

QED Rose. The only soap that has irritated my skin.

I cannot stand the scent of Bay R(h)um in any variation - soap, cream, AS, EdT.

Stuff with Verbena in it. I first got a tub of cream from St. Sue (R.I.P.) with that stuff in it. Loved the scent and found it a great cream. Finished the tub in short order and got a second. What a difference, same scent, but it burned my face like crazy.

Then got a tub of TSD Tropical Verbena. Again, great scent, but man did it burn my face.

I have other creams from both vendors that create no problems so I figure the one common thing with the two creams is the Verbena. So that must be what is causing my problem.
