What did we learn from our last shaves?

I learned that not paying attention while changing the blade and putting the base plate on upside down really negates the razors effectiveness.

 

Gentlemen, from my last shave...

I learned that AV Musk is worthy of a slot in the AS rotation. I learned this from the generous PIF of a forum member.

 

I've learned that as my technique improved so has artisan soap makers. Ive been wet shaving for 2 years and the quality of shaving soap has increased astronomically.

 

The morning I learned that I get better results if on my first two passes I do a simple N-S and S-N with the 3rd going ATG for the more coarse areas. I needed fewer touch ups and achieved a BBS

 

I shaved in the shower today with some Cremo and my Old type SR / Feather combo on its 5th shave.

So........ Today I learned that,

Shaving 3 times in 36 hours might be doable, IF I hadn't had a rough shave with the Valet last night, and IF I had done prep today instead of just a shower. As it is, I destroyed my neck.

A shave not even worthy of putting in the shave of the Day really. Lol

I learned that, despite thinking I was going to save lots of money on blades, I'm spending more than I ever did on shaving sinse switching to traditional methods. I once had one razor, now I have several plus creams, etc

 

I'm bumming it until tomorrow morning so didn't shave at all.
I did however splash on some Veg - just because it's so great.

 

If you're going to look like a bum you might as well smell like one too. Lol.

That after 4 or 5 great shaves with my Aristocrat that I'm not the expert I thought I had turned into. Hacked myself up this morning using exactly what I had provided a BBS yesterday.

 

That I really like Proraso Red croap and it face lathers great. Having OD'd on Tabac the last few weeks, I decided I needed to get back to some others. Red never disappoints.

 

That chasing BBS even on your birthday can cause a little burn

 

Happy birthday. It's my wife's today as well.

 

I recalled exactly how easy it is to lather the Maca Root cream from the Body Shop.

 

Even with the addition of some really outstanding new soaps to my den, MdC still sits on the top shelf! Ive come a very long way in two years in upgrading my wet shaving gear.
Using what was once my favorite blade Personna Lab Blue again has been great.

 

I learned that I can pack enough supplies in my shaving kit bag to get a DFS even at a hotel. If only their sink would hold water...
