1. The shovel head isn't a bad razor. First experience was terrible. Tugging, rough, skipping. Today I had quite a nice shave with it. 2. My skin must be dehydrated. I've been putting on just a little Tea Tree Oil blend before bed at night and a little just before I get out of the shower, in addition to my normal prep. My shaves have been continually improving since I started that.
I learned that the GEM Featherweight is a crazy good little shaver. The unique shape gives you perfect grip positions for each pass. This bad boy isn't going anywhere. I would recommend it for anyone looking to try a SE razor. Oh and that Latha is no joke...a really good performer. $10 bucks for 4 oz. is a steal for this kind of lather. The scent is 50/50, but if you like it, you have a winner.
Gentlemen, from my last shave... I learned that the soft water in NY is affecting my lather...it's just not the same as I am used to.
I learned this simple fact: That even a 'tuggy' straight razor shave is still a far more enjoyable shaving experience than any I've ever had with a multi blade cartridge razor.
I learned that no matter how much a blade is revered by others, it may not work so well for me. This is my second attempt at these blades. I really wanted to like the Gillette Silver Blues but all it did was irritate my face from the tugging.
I had always heard that synthetic brushes do not hold a lot of water. - However that is not the case for the Plisson Cade brush - it holds it very well or in this morning's case - a bit too well.
That bowl lathering is not difficult and very effective, and to keep going when your not getting things right. Because when it all falls into place. It's a dream.
That I really need to take it slow and not speed through my shaves. I almost consider myself a newb again, since I shave my head now and have only been doing it for a few months. Talk about really needing to make sure the lather is right.
Not to shave when I'm pissed off! I've found since my shaving epiphany that it really chills me out. Tonight was the first time that I was too wound up to and should have walked away. If I'd been using a more aggressive razor, I expect I'd had ended up in tatters.
Gentlemen, from my last shave... I learned that as the dial numbers increase on the slim, more care and attention must be paid to blade angle than at lower settings.
That menthol Monday's may turn into tingly Tuesday, and Wild Wednesday, terrific Thursday, etc... Love the menthol!
