I saw a video a while ago that posed an interesting theory for lathering Stirling soaps. The guy said to not bloom the puck, start with a much drier brush, and load WAY longer. His reasoning was that the ingredient that tends to make Stirling great is the Bentonite Clay. If you start with more water, you'll pick up more clay and less soap, throwing the ideal ratio out of line.
I learned that by switching out the regular handle on my EJ DE89 with the one that came on my $11 Utopia I can get an even better and closer shave. I may have to start using my 89 more often again.
Love my 89L with pol/silver or wilkenson sword. But last night's shave was my red-tip Gillette with the sword. Little more aggressive but I learned that combo gives a DFS. P.S. LET'S GO LIGHTNING!!!
Learned that when using the Gillette Old Type OC razor, I can't go ATG around the neck area. I did an extra XTG instead.
That the Heavy Tech, after using different razors for a bit, is one of the smoothest closest shaving razors I own.
Further down the rabbit hole...2013 r41 with the spitfire head , head shave. WOWZA amazing!!! Talk about chrome dome baby oh yeah!
I love it! I also have the hurricane cap I will do a write up on the two soon. Short version spitfire makes a 2013 R41 mimic a 2011 R41 the hurricane has the same blade exposure as the spitfire with a thicker cap...mate a 2011 with a 2013 and that's a hurricane. I will never go back to the standard 2013

Gentlemen, from my last shave... I learned realized that the Veg is probably my fave AS. It is so different (better) decanted into glass than out of the manufacturers plastic bottle.
