That a Gillette single ring with a Voskhod gives a really great shave.

On the 2nd day of my 30-day Rule trying establish good technique...while shaving across my body, I cut myself badly as I focused too much on my line of sight and forgot Rule #1 - no pressure on blade.

To which @Bama Samurai replied: It's pretty awesome to read about new shaver skill progression on a daily basis! And if you don't bleed a little, are you really experimenting? Nice work!

Judging by all the blood, I really experimented a lot today. :happy096:
    So endeth the lesson!

I didn't intend any schadenfreude in my reply. Other than the little mishap, it sounded like a good shave day to me.

    And on that note...

    Gentlemen, from my last shave...

I learned, that on June 1st, I was applying pressure to the razor without thinking about it. I was so intimidated by the memory of a bad OC shave that I was zoned out on angles. June 2 went a little better. And June 2 lather was better than June 1.

    2 things today
    1. I really don't like Lab Blues. I got these in a sampler PIF, and they are the ones with the arrows on the blade in the holder with no wrapper, so they might be the Personna barber blades, and technically not the blues. Either way, not a good shave today. Really bad tugging, some skipping, and they just didn't feel like they were cutting anything. Didn't like them in my Popular or 37c. They were acceptable, but not great in my Fatboy, so I thought maybe my technique had improved. Tried them in the R4 today and I still don't like them...
    2. I may have a new favorite face lathering brush. I got an Omega S brush in a PIF. It seemed a little soft at first and I felt like I had trouble loading it. Today went much better, it loaded up great and seemed to produce better lather than I've had since I stopped head lathering my soaps.

I learned that more soap is sometimes the answer for Williams.

I learned realized that Derby Green is actually pretty ok. Not a fave, but not to be avoided. It's just another decent blade.

That the R41 with a 3D printed Spitfire cap is LOUD. I thought my Shovelhead was bad. I don't think I can shave with this thing in the morning without waking my wife up.

I've never had the pleasure, but I can't imagine anything other than an electric being any louder.

That's one reason I keep a tube of unscented KMF on hand. If I get too much water for the puck, I just add a dollop of KMF cream. It helps thicken up the lather without masking any scent.

Today I had my third slant razor shave.
As with the first two it was close but neither pleasant nor enjoyable.
I can get the same results with my Rolls or my Parker 91R with just a little additional touching up.
I will not name the razor or blades yet. Not until I give it a fair trial in case the problem is me.

I tried to love my 37c, but something about it was just never quite as comfortable as my R41 or my wide open Fatboy. Then I started adding some shims. It's much better now with 3 shims being the sweet spot. Although it's still not any better than the two I mentioned, it's in the same ball park now.

I learned that talking about your Le Coq razor in public turns heads.
