What did we learn from our last shaves?

I have an SR1 shavette that I've played with, but only on the face. I used it exclusively for a couple of months, but I just couldn't get comfortable with the angles. I have a straight that I tried once. It had been freshly honed, but felt really tuggy, so I set it aside until I have some time to strop it and test the edge. It just seems like a lot of work without much return over a DE or SE for me.

 

That a vintage Gillette Travel Tech can be an efficient, effective razor. You just have to make some adjustments due to the really small handle. Those are cool razors!

 

That may be the secret to your head shaving comfort!

 

Yeah Chris I've realized that a nice clean shave is much better than a bloody mess.

 

It was my big find of 2015, albeit I tried it in December.

 

That my '45 Contract is a *very* mild razor (I couldn't skip last night...forgot the operations manager was dropping by today).

 

That injectors are not only super but are also great shavers!

 

That the Fatip is a good razor, even with the alignment issues. I had a great shave with the Fatip this morning with much less irritation than I've been getting from my wide open adjustables the past week or so.

 

That I have pretty much found my perfect shave, or as close to a perfect shave as one comes on this side of paradise. If any of the products are discontinued, I know of alternatives that will still work very well. Done and dusted!

 

That Wilkinson Swords are meh...okay blades. Nothing to brag about here.

 

That with my Rise Cooling Balm(or perhaps ANY balm)less is better. There isn't too much fragrance, but the Rise ingredients let me know it is doing its work.

 

If you don't mind, please expound on the products you use for your perfect shave. I'm curious.

 

I have to say, that thought crossed my mind, too.

 

That RR Essential Oil of Lime is a damn good pre shave oil which also happens to smell delightful.

 

That the new Alumigoose indeed does call for quite some pressure. Thanks @spidey9

 

That a Schick N1 injector is even more effective with a Schick Twin blade.

 

The Fatip Grande is a very nice razor. Loaded an Astra Platinum and had an excellent shave.

After reading about how this was such an aggressive razor, I was concerned going into today's shave somewhat. I was careful minding the blade alignment, and yes mine has some slop and needs to be attended to for an even exposure.

Three pass shave, 2x north to south, and one XTG. Very smooth, no nicks or weepers. The Grande is not the Big Bad Wolf or some implement of bloodletting I've seen in some reviews. Maybe I got 'a good one', I don't know, but I'm keeping it! For $20 for the Grande from itailianbarber and a 11¢ blade, I couldn't be happier

 

Or maybe the people writing these bad reviews need to work on their technique! Glad it worked nicely for you.

Today I learned that this injector is marvelous for shaving with your non-dominent hand as the length of the handle is very generous. I learned how to shave with my left hand while using carts and it's something I still do occasionally so as not to lose that muscle memory.
