First line of home defense is a large, very alert and vocal English Labrador Retreicver. I have no doubt in a tense encounter in our home he would defend us with his life. After that, it’s a Glock 19, EDC Ruger LC9s, and a variety of Smith K frames. I typically have only one K frame out of the safe at any one time other than range trips. The 9’s are stoked with Federal HST ammo, the .38 revolvers are loaded with Winchester Ranger +P, and .357 magnums with Remington Golden Saber.

That should repel anyone or anything.

 

It is one type of 9mm, albeit not the 9mm cartridge most think of. A friend acquired a Makarov, and mentioned casually he was going to buy some 9mm for it. I cautioned him to be sure to get 9x18, not 9mm Luger. He’s not a gun expert and had no idea of the difference.

 

I know what the 9mm Mak (9x18mm) is. Was just wondering what type mrchick's is?

For me, personally, long guns have no place in a confined area like a home. Too easy for them to be taken away from you as you go around a corner or through a doorway.
