I've only been wetshaving for less than a year, and I only have 4 DE's. But, of those 4, it'd have to be my Black Beauty with the long handle. As much as I love my Slim, the long handle just seems to have the right balance for me. But.......my Ball End Tech just gives such a comfortable shave.........I'm falling into the trap!!!!!!
Hmm... A couple months ago it was my Merkur 37c, I could not get a bad shave. (Only when I put a feather in, it was not a good combo). But Right now It has to be my WEBER polished head stainless steel razor. I'm getting the best shaves ever
Easy question 2011 Muhle R41 I have tried and tried to find some thing the same or better but can't. It delivers the longest lasting BBS without irritation for me.
I hear you, I love mine too and I've used it for a long time, but now it's been surpassed by my Mongoose which give me just a smooth a shave but much closer without effort. I'm also trying out a Merkur Futur just out of curiousity, and I can say I prefer it to my old 2013 R41 which was just too much for everyday shaving. The Futur I've used for 2 weeks straight and it could be my daily shaver. I still think the Mongoose beats it but that might also be that I'm partial to stainless steel!
Preference changes a lot. I too love that my Weber is stainless. It gives a nice and luxurious feel to the shave. The futur seems like a good option for everyday, and then maybe the 37c or r41 for those days you have postponed shaving a day or 2 more than usual =P
I hate these... "Best Razor".... Best shaver or Best quality of manufacture? Or BYOB (Bring Your Own "Best")? OK, both... -Best shaver: Iwasaki carbon steel straight. I have no idea why it's such a shaver...wookie magic? Shinto blessings? Fell from the loins of Chiaki Kuriyama? I have no guess, but this ol' girl shaves like angel kisses. - Best Quality: C. V. Heljestrand MK No. 33. Swedish perfection. Until you see one up close, you can't appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into making this razor...
Metro, Just out of curiosity, was your avatar pic taken at the moment the lights went out at Monza last weekend and Kimi exploded out of the starting grid? Lol. Sorry, disgruntled Lotus fan here... Actually, I was rooting Ferrari that day. Really wanted to see both on the podium...anybody but those AMG Mercedes'.
LOL! not! But the hat did come from the Montreal GP quite a few years ago. This shot I was speedboating, nothi g to do with Formula 1 really!
My best/favorite razor as of today 9/13/15 is a Stahly shave head attached to various handles(Weber Bulldog and Classic, Griestshaving GS2(3.5")SS and "FAT" brass Bulldog, Star tech, Sabi T2, Parker 97R Bulldog and ATT Atlas). The Stahly head has shaved WONDERFULLY with all these handles, it's actually shaves better(smoother, closer) than my Weber DLC. Its gives consistent, close, irritation, nick and razor burn free BBS shaves. I've never gotten so many BBS shaves one after the other! If the American SS safety razor makers were smart they would copy the Stahly shave head, produce a Solid bar, Open comb and Slant version and put it on all of their razors! The funny thing is I've never used it with the original "vibrating" handle as the mechanism doesn't work.
1959 Red Tip Although, ive just acquired a Fat Boy. only a few days in and already somewhat impressed.
The best razor I ever had is in my avatar. It is 3D printed in ABS and after it is fully refined, I am looking forward to make it in metal. It is not visible from the avatar, but the head is tilted, so it got a slanting effect. Basically it is a mix between open comb and slant.
I finally was able to buy my white whale razor. The Weber PH w/bulldog handle. * pictured here w/RazoRock Bamboo Handle
Thats a Hard one LOL. Love all my Razors.. But right now the One i can always count on giving me a Epic BBS Shave has to be my Maggard Slant on the MR6 handle
