This thread only needs the first post Those things are absolutely beautiful (And helpful when you're the one on the ground calling them in!) Those US pilots can damn near be snipers with that 30mm cannon as well, usually they only need 2 passes before heading home and leaving the guys on the ground to walk past the bone chips & mist.
No doubt about the Mustang. That is a sweet bird! The two hawks are awesome, too. Very majestic! I'm curious if anyone on the Den had the privilege to pilot or work on any of the aircraft. I didn't know whether to pick the Blackbird or the Warthog. The U2 always made me snicker with the training wheels on the wings, but an awesome bird.
I've been involved with a lot of aircraft over the last 40 yrs. Safe to say I'm a propulsion guy (hubba hubba).
Yep the 104 (aka Widow Maker, Flying Coffin, Rocket with a Man in it). A 50s bird (no computers), held multi-records back in the day, Mach 2.2 max, cruse at 1.2 & 120.8K feet.
I had a conversation a few times with my sons about how old school engineering was done with pencil, paper and slide rulers. Amazing stuff!
Love the looks of the P51 Mustang. Darn it, now I'm hankering to watch an episode of Bah Bah Black Sheep!
