Well, yesterday was manly. Fire season is long gone so I fired up my new (least manly size) Stihl chainsaw and cleared windfall off about 200 yards of long-neglected forest road. A small saw and a sharp chain were the perfect combination. Only about another 300 yards to go. Today is more about house and laundry - family celebration tonight.
Birthday for the youngest and a solid start on a student household after a year in the dorms. Five sophomore boys in a house and no disasters yet. Yay!
Shooting a bow with a 12-pound drew weight (which is VERY light) I managed to Robin-Hood an arrow. and it was in the exact center of the target.
Uhhhhh, doesnt sound too manly. But, I'm not judging you. Were you cleaning any guns while watching?? Wrestling a gator? Chopping wood, or winning an arm wrestling contest during the video?? ..
Great pics! I'm no an expert of dendrology, but I think you last picture is of a White Swamp Oak and a small Sugar Maple.
Still at it Tracking down a Glowplug issue on the Kubota before the snow flies.. I keep going from the Barn and the Tractor to the shop and some razors so I don't go crazy Trying to stay sane and warm in North Idaho
Granddaughter decided to flush some toys down the toilet, so I had to remove the toilet, reverse flush it with water and reinstall it. Not a fun job.
Committed acts of forestry using various sharp tools. And split a little wood while I was at it. After six hours, when headed for home, I found one gate post on the ground. I suspect a no-good, low-class, would-be “hunter” pulled it down. So a trip to town and back, 100 lbs of quick set concrete, some rebar, and a another couple hundred lbs of the busted up concrete rubble someone thoughtfully dumped on the other side of the forest road, plus a few hours of ‘not fun’ as it got dark - voila, a temporary gate post. Manly. Now for some ibuprofen!
