Trimmed front hedges, helped wife paint our dining room. Changed out ivory colored receptacles in dining room to white to better match new paint. Long day.
I vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen, swept and mopped the dining room, grocery shopped and made supper. It was my wife's weekend to work, so I try to make it nice for her when she gets done, and feel like she can relax a while over coffee on Monday morning without a Godawful mess staring her down.
Nice looking brisket. I do two at a time, twice a year. Usually when my wife makes me. It's a pain getting up, every couple of hours, to make sure everything is at the right temp and is still smoking well. She can eat that stuff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, for a week straight.
I like the warmer tones of vinyl versus digital, especially on vocal tracks featuring stringed instruments.
Attempted to fix a watch for a kid I know who has no dad, just a grandma. It was a piece of junk when it was new and is now shot, so I gave him a spare I had laying around. A $3 Big Lots special but his face lit up. Wasn't expecting that so I cheered up my day.
Ok here's what I did today. Typical rainy day here in the northwest wood so i spent the day smoking a variety of cheese (Gouda, Monterey Jack and Mozzarella). I also tried something new. I put about 6 oz of bourbon in the smoker as well. It was a "cold smoke" since you don't want the cheese to melt. You just add the smoke for about 2 hours or so. Cheese came out perfect. The bourbon was really smokey. Will try again but take the bourbon out at an hour. A fun day - for me anyways.
Took my wife's car in and had tires put on. Put up straw for the rabbits for the winter, spread a couple of bales under the deck for the dogs. Finished winterizing the camper, and drained the lower unit on the boat. Picked up and put stuff away for winter. Nothing gets you butt into gear like a blizzard warning.
I'm sure I'll be ready and willing to do the same the next time we get a blizzard warning in Houston.
They say we should expect about a foot where I am at. That means we will either get a dusting or three and a half feet.
