Spanish Cedar retains moisture. Cigars need a Relative Humidity between 70 & 75 percent and a temperature around 70-72 degrees. There is an outfit up in Connecticut that sells quarter inch thick pieces of various widths and lengths. I ordered a couple of sheets that should be here at the end of the month.
Are you sure you want to order from CT? It's a known home to penguin colonies at both the Mystic Aquarium and at the Norwalk one. I mean, your cedar might get "accidentally" infected with penguin cooties or something.
Maybe if you dipped the tips in poison dart tree frog secretions @richgem would consider it manly. Both manly and stupid, but sometimes they are synonymous.
According to the Post Office, the Spanish Cedar should be here sometime tomorrow. I've got the hygrometer and the humidifier from Heartfelt Industries, so all I have to do is cut and mount the cedar and move on to the seasoning process. I still say it would've been easier to buy one. Though the next one will go a lot smoother. Yeah, I'm already thinking that I'm gonna need more room.
My first attempt at a straight razor shave. Was an acceptable shave, not as smooth as I had hoped for but it was acceptable. Struggled with which way to hold the razpr or certain parts of my face so it took me forever but I felt a sense of accomplishment. I did have a little bit of irritation on my jaw line.
