It is a good read. I don't agree with the straight razor part but the part about leaving the lather on your face for a bit before the shave does make a difference. If you get a chance, try it.
I'm new here and I have never heard of a scuttle . what is it? (Sure I could just Google it but I think I'll get a more informative answer here) I've had a couple pro shaves, both presents from my wife. The shaves themselves we're good but the best part is sitting in that chair with the hot towel... Doesn't get much better for me
A bowl-shaped container that holds hot water within and allows the user to make hot or warm lather within the bowl. Often seen made of ceramic, but can be made of any water-proof material (metal, glass).
Thanks, I actually stumbled across the post on bowls shortly after posting this question. A scuttle has been added to the list of things I need to get my hands on!
Reading this article again I notice he recommends only Badger brushes, He forgets to mention the Boar brush, that many of us enjoy using. Personally I like an Omega Boar or a Horse Hair Brush with Cella croap, but that's my personal preference. Also shaving WTG he did not mention those that use a second and possibly a third pass ATG or XTG. Personally I also shave ATG, 2 passes touch up for a BBS, of coarse a good prep to begin with. Denis
Nice article for those who haven't found the enlightened path yet. I thought the quotes came off as rather pedantic but then I thought that the audience really wasn't us. I'm enjoying the best shaves of my life with a boar or horsehair brush and there is no way I am hanging around for an extra 2 or 3 minutes with lather on my face before I shave. I know that extra lather time is good, but I simply won't do it.
