What Phrases or Words Irritate You?

    The first time I heard a phrase like that was in Juice Newton's hit "Queen of Hearts" where she sings "But when they're handin out the heartaches you know you got to have you some".

    no, I was right...but, now that we have THAT straight....what is the origin of ax(e)murderer? ( Both ax and axe are chopping tools).

    oh, the GIT aspect of the persuasion....I see. I wonder how many times we say GIT without realizing it(meaning GET, of course).

    Here in the northwest we drink a lot of coffee. It always gets me when someone orders an "X-presso" Its spelled "espresso" folks!

    "Happy Holidays". For Christ sake, man up and say Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, or what every you like. Political correctness annoys me more than anything.

    yes...me too. The other day, an elderly woman complained about the "Season's Greetings" thing...she said "When I hear that,. I don't know what season is being referred to".

    When I am speaking t a group ( as I often did, when I was working), I found "Happy Holidays" simpler than trying to guess what each of 34 kids were or were not celebrating. So I do not see that as anything more than trying to include every one I was addressing.
