Joseph Smith & Sons near wedge, 13/16. Dyed cow horn, barber's notch. The 13/16 is a real nice 'middle-of-the-road' weight and size, and this one's got some nice curves too. Swayback? I've seen 'hollow spine' used as well. I like these old blades that taper from toe to heel. All in all a very nice shave this morning indeed.

Lou, this razor was finished on the Escher—back before I picked up the Apaches.
This weekend, I'll be taking these three to the hones (Happy Trio), and probably use both the red & strata on them.

    6/8 Gong
    De Vergulde Hand
    homemade boar
Another big Omega knot experiment, I feel there is at least one more is in the works. After that I don't what more I can think of doing but I'm sure eventually I'll think of something. The Gong took a good edge and provided a fine shave. Have a good one.

    That's my plan. Red (7-8k); Strata (10-12k)***

***grit estimates supplied from vendor. Your own experiences may vary with their use(s) as natural stones grit values are often difficult to determine and may have variances dependent upon from where the stones were acquired. :D

same Clauss USMC as in abover post but finished on the Apache Strata I just got from my secret santa. I was amazed at the close shave it produced today. The Apache Strata rocks

What hones/stones did you use before the finisher? Good-looking razor.

I used a Naniwa Pro 1k, Norton 4-8 combo and a Naniwa 12k,then stropped on hard wool with cro ox 10 times, then linen 40 times then leather 60 times then the Apache with a slurry and ended with plain water. Just 10 X strokes slurry and 10 x water on the Strata. So far with two razors it worked like a charm. Best shave ever

despite the pic I used Proraso Red
    homemade boar
For some reason I've never been a fan of the performance of Proraso but like the scent of the red. This mornings shave was mediocre. Cutting the whiskers on my chin will tell the tale on blade sharpness and today it was lacking. Back to the stones. Have a good one.

Cutting the whiskers on the chin!!! Yep, that's my guide also. I have the toughest darn whiskers on the chin and almost never get it clean even if I go over it with a DE. The last two days after using the Cro ox and Apache Strata, I got er done. Not a Boar fan but I sure like yours
