This is a very nice S.R. DROESCHER Importer at 77-79 Warren Street, New York City; later opened a factory in Cranbury, New Jersey
ca. 1891-1924 (manufacture of razors began ca. 1916) gifted to me by my friend and honing advisor @Steveclarkus . It was restored by our favorite razor guy, J.R. Rowe.

As I said in the honing page, I did a number of laps on .5 and .3 films followed by 200k diamond pasted balsa. The shave was noticeably more efficient, but I will probably do a complete re-hone next year.

So you got that razor. It had been up for a while and sold 3 days before I had the money for it.

    Repeat of the S.R. DROESCHER

I had more time yesterday and decided to see what I could do to improve this edge. I did a bevel set with the 30 mu film followed by 12 and 9 respectively. Then I made a slurry for the Coticule, did some initial circles followed by x strokes and finished under a small stream of water. Next came the Thuringian, the "much maligned Timber Tools Thuringian, slurry to clear held under a small stream, then 40 laps on the 1 micron followed by .5 and .3 respectively. Lastly and before a proper Illinois stropping, I did 15 laps on CrO suede and 100 laps on 200k pasted balsa.

This progression continues to produce a near or same as shavette edge. I realize some steps may be redundant/unnecessary, but it's hard to change what works. Merry Christmas all.

    Today's shave.

GBS silvertip brush that I received in a gift exchange.

Grim blades 6/8 straight. I got a hell of a deal on it. Looks like it was never used and I got it for 10.50.

Long rifle soap co 1776 soap and aftershave

Christmas morning, Tanifuji Spalding, soap was IC Mango Oil lathered with a Tulip 1 (my air travel brush, fits in a pill bottle), and a little IC Rhubarb finished up a perfect shave.

This morning, a Gold Dollar 66, the last of the Chinese razors in the ‘to do’ drawer, up and running. This is a quite decent razor, by chance I know well enough, but one of 3 that I got from a friend that used to fix them up and sell them. Almost no one has kept up doing that over the years, it’s just a lot of work for little return and fixing up these razors put a lot of wear on your hones. I use them for test razors and gifts, so a small handful is all I do at once. Cream was SMN lathered with a Rooney 1/3 Silvertip, balm was SMN body balm.

Thank you! I wish i could take credit for the design, but I'm further down the ownership line :).
Love how Robert works the blade and his wife does the scale art... couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Christmas found me short on time, so I did a hurried two pass shave with a de. Overall a crappy shave.

This evenings shave redeemed yesterday’s shortfall. Thiers Issard 6/8.
