I am partial to some of the big blades as well (considering the 3 biggies I've been using this past week). This Rodgers isn't as broad as some of those 7/8 or 8/8 blades, but it has substantial weight in both spine and tang. I made the scales slightly longer & thicker to balance the weight in-hand.

Funny you should mention that Kevin... I forgot to post it yesterday but Thursday's shave was with my lone Joseph Rodgers, a 13/16 wedge with the same résumé - thick spine, heavy build throughout the blade, smiling edge and a notch that leaves a nice lil' stinger right on the toe.
Better than a cuppa coffee, hehehe. Uppy Wake! :eatdrink013:

No, only kidding. It's as plush and smooth a shaver as I've ever used and it practically drives itself. I definitely wouldn't mind picking up another Rodgers for the right price...very nice! :happy088:

Excellent shave today and absolutely love the scent of RSS (Black Amber Vanille). I'll just have to wait and see if I burn out on it in a few of days, which unfortunately usually happens to me.

Revisor 13/16 - honed Naniwa Pro 1k, Norton combo 4k,8k, Naniwa 12k, Apache, cro ox on wool pad, linen and leather. ( superb shaver) I think I got the best shave ever today. so close and so smooth. I have not felt a shave this close since the 50's when my favorite barber would give me a sr shave

Sorry no straight today. This is my annual double edge shave. As some of you know this was my Dad's razor and the one I started shaving with. The significance is that he was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked and this razor was there too. Something I don't want to forget and he couldn't. I would like to be able to pass this tradition on to my son or son-in-law. He passed away 43 years ago at the age of 51.

I used a Geo W Korn. I have named it Lady Tempest, because of the lady with the wild flowing hair on the scales. the razor has the number 1113 on the, "tang", forgive me if the nomenclature is wrong. Is this a serial number?
I only did first pass, finished with a de. I'm getting better though.
I gotta learn honing next. any nuggets of wisdom are greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. 20141208_080426-1.jpg 20141208_080456-1.jpg

Read a lot of threads on straightrazorplace on honing. Lynn has a video on the front page of him doing a simple honing using circles. In the SRP wiki there is an explanation of the pyramid. If you are using lapping film there are two long threads on badgerandblade. Youtube has many honing videos. Look up Glen Mercurio's, gssixgun or Lynn Abrams' videos. You can put up a thread on SRP, B&B, shavenook and here to see if there is someone in your area who can mentor you.
