What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

Portland Razor Company Siren for me this morning. I honed this last night and figured I’d give it a test shave today. Paired with Zingari Man “The Blacksmith” which was absolutely fantastic. Finished up with some Zingari Man balm.

Great shave yesterday with the most unique razor I'll probably ever own.

Wholly Kaw is a great performer. Scent close to Brut.

The Mrs and I reconnected with the best man at our wedding and his wife. Greatest friend of my entire life. Had not seen each other in the last 10 years and picked up right where we left off. Goes back to dirt biking in our early teens. Fun!

The French Gustave Lalune delivered a face looking good as it ever does these days.

A fantastic shave, with a trusty Restored Sheffield made razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that delivered a BBS shave. Just one little weeper, because I wasn't paying attention. Great razor.

Most I see have beautiful gold wash and scales. This one looks to be the utilitarian version... I like it.

RigaRazor 7/8 with a nasty little tip. This one bit me twice the last time I used it, but with a little more attention, delivered an excellent shave this time.

Chiseled Face Midnight Stag is an...interesting... soap. Smells like a machine shop or mechanics garage. I’m glad I only bought a sample, because it also smells like someone dumped motor oil and gun oil on a leather jacket and lit the whole thing on fire. It’s a polarizing scent to say the least. Performance wise it was excellent and the result was a 3 pass BBS and then a thorough scrubbing to remove the scent from my face.

ERN 6/8 and a test Monkey were up today, from the Ozuku test last night (details in the honing thread). Soap was ABC hard soap lathered with a Keyhole 4 and a splash of Agua Balsamica finished up a BBS shave.

 

Bluesteel Special by Herold Bros today, as honed by @DaltonGang. This one was giving me trouble (sadly not a rare occurrence) and Scott generously offered to take a look. As I’m sure you all guessed, the razor is fine and Scott put a killer edge on it.

After my experience with Midnight Stag yesterday, I went 180 degrees today and lathered with A&E SoCal Hipster. Bright, Fruity, and no oil, leather, or smoke anywhere. My first go with A&E soap, and so far I’m impressed.

Thank you, Sir!!! The soap I never gave it a thought but now I can see why and for the brush everybody loves seeing it.

 

This lovely Lund is always challenging the Russian I used Sunday for the title of Best Shave in the den. Today was another too close to call wonderful result. Winner on looks, though.
