I had a mint Otto Deutsch Hans and thought it shaved like the C-Mon (Carl Monkinghouse), Dubl Ducks and the American Geneva, Genco, Case razors. I hate I sold it.

Robert, I concur with your observations on the similarities with the Otto to those razors you've mentioned! No plans to sell this one at the moment. ;)

Best part was I picked it up for $35 in an antique store 4 or 5 months ago.

20141219_075217.jpg used my Henckels 81 for my first pass, face and neck.
I was able to touch up the blade to make it shave sharp.
I suspect it still needs to be sharpened by a pro.
but I'm pretty happy with the endeavor.

Clauss USMC 13/16 - naniwa 1k pro series, Norton 4k,8k combo, Naniwa 12k, Apache strata, cro ox on hard pressed wool 15 times, 45 on linen and 75 on a Tony Miller leather - what a nice smooth shave it was. I am soooo happy with the Apache. This is one of the razors that I was never impressed with. I honed it several times as well as a good friend did also. After I put it on the Strata it became a different razor

stropping is going well. honing is going much slower.
I have four straights. all need a pro's edge. after the holidays I'm going tostart sending them off to be honed.
I have an old ezy edge barber's hone I can touch up with.
but stropping is going pretty well, thanks.

Excellent shave this morning, actually, I didn't even really need a shave today, yesterdays was still close enough to get through most of today. Have a good one.

Lou, so glad to see you getting such good results off the apache. I toggle back n' forth between the strata & the escher (different razors, of course) just to compare results and the good news is: I like BOTH results...:)
I was looking at the Tony Miller strops recently as well (yeah, I know.... I need another strop like I need another hole in the head). Look to be finely-made, quality product. Your opinion of the TM strop vs others you've used?

I'm on a two-day NO SHAVE routine (allowing time for my recently 'sliced' jowl to heal). Lovely razor & brush/bowl combo—by the way. :happy088:
