Well, the week began by wiping the silicone oil off the Sub Cero, giving it a light stropping, then shave #151. I’ve been testing stones and tomo nagura since August 3, and figured it might be good to give a whirl since I’ve been shaving with a lot of fresh, smooth edges.

It did well, about like I remembered it shaving. I had extra beard this morning which usually translates to less smoothness, but the SC performed well for 151 shaves. Certainly not as smooth as fresh, but still a very competent in-shave experience and the result was fine.

Post shave stropping was 35 Latvian linen and 85 roo.

 

Two razors today, this is the SR part, Henckels 95 with plenty of hone wear.

 

August 24th

I honed this wedge style razor Houwink Groningen 13/16 on a progression of naniwa professional stone 1000, 3000, then shapton glass stones 4000, 8000. The finishing hone was a la veinette selected plus. HHT was not convincing.

The shave was very good. Smooth and foregiving.

I’m pretty sure it didn’t come this way from the factory, and I didn’t take a good picture of the heel and thumb notch, but execution is pretty cool. Killer shave!

Mindless autopilot shave today from this little Wosty, ~120 years old. Fun.

 

Coral, cream was I Coloniali Rhubarb lathered with a Keyhole 3, and a little matching IC balm finished up.
